As the summer season kicks off, employers are finding more and more ways to put paid-leave workers on the clock.
That includes job openings at summer jobs lots in cities across the country.
Some of these openings are already filled, with employers offering paid-leaver options.
Some are just looking to hire new workers.
And others have started hiring temporary workers at seasonal employment lots in places like New York and New Jersey.
And in some cases, employers even want to hire temporary workers.
Here are a few ways to get started:Get help applying to a job, or fill out an application for a summer jobs lot.
In New York City, you can find seasonal employment lot applications in public library branches, public libraries, and the City Hall Plaza on Fifth Avenue, said Jessica Hirsch, public health director at the New York Public Library.
In San Francisco, you’ll find seasonal jobs lot applications at many public libraries and community centers, said the city’s Public Information Officer, Sara McKean.
In Denver, you might get an application at the Colorado State Library.
In Austin, Texas, you will find a job listing at the Austin Community College Library, said Austin Parks and Recreation Director, Steve Boggs.
In Houston, you could apply for summer jobs at the University of Houston Libraries, said Hirsch.
In Chicago, you may want to apply at the city library or at the library of the University at Buffalo, according to the city department of planning and housing.
In Portland, Oregon, you should be looking at seasonal jobs at both the Portland Public Library and the city of Portland, according a city spokesman.
If you are applying for a job or job lot at a public library, apply in person.
At the library, you need to fill out the application and pay the application fee and apply for the job or lot.
At a job lot, you apply online and pay $15, plus $3 per hour, to get an interview, Hirsch said.
If you do not have a computer, you have to bring your own.
The application fee is waived if you live in the city, or if you are a veteran and meet the eligibility criteria, said Kristina Giesbrecht, director of community affairs for the city departments of transportation and planning.
You also have to meet with a supervisor at least 10 days before you are hired.
Giesbrets says the city has a number of paid-family and medical leave programs.
And if you don’t qualify for one, you don.
If your child is pregnant or nursing, you must sign a waiver that says your employer can terminate your employment.
If your employer has a seasonal job lot or seasonal employment openings, apply online, but be sure to send your application in a sealed envelope.
If the employer does not have an online application, they can send you an email with a link to an application.
The city also sends out resumes in person at a temporary jobs lot in the same way.
In the New Jersey City, New York, and New York State, you are able to apply for seasonal job lots in the public library branch, public library on the first floor of the city building and at the public health department, said public health deputy director, Emily Johnson.
You can also apply online at the state library.
In New York state, you get a discount if you apply by mail, she said.
In Florida, you cannot apply online.
You must apply by phone.
You may also apply at a community center, said Maria DePelis, public information officer for the state Department of Health and Human Services.
In California, you also have two ways to apply: by mail or at a job fair.
You can apply for a temporary job at any public library or job fair you may be interested in, said Debra Zawisz, public affairs officer for Public Libraries of Florida.
She said you should apply online for a new position.
In Texas, the state department of public health offers seasonal employment opportunities through its job fairs, which can be found online.
In Houston, the job fair program at the Public Library of Texas offers seasonal jobs to individuals ages 16 to 65, according DePelsz.
In Philadelphia, you do have to be 21 to apply, said Bethany DeWitt, public education department spokesperson.
She also said the department of health does not offer paid-care benefits to residents of Pennsylvania who are 21 and over.
In Washington, D.C., you can apply online or in person, said Katherine Mertens, public services director for the department.
You will need to provide proof of identification and be at least 18 years old to apply.
The department offers paid-counselor services to those who qualify, as well as other assistance such as mental health counseling, Mertins said.
