How to get the job you want in pharmacy jobs

The drugstore job market has become a “bubble” that could burst in coming months, and it’s getting hotter in some areas, with many applicants vying for the same job.

The number of job openings in pharmacies is expected to increase by about 30 percent by the end of 2019, according to the National Association of Pharmacy Administrators.

But many job seekers are still hesitant to take on the job that is, by some estimates, the toughest to fill.

A survey released last week by the trade association showed that more than half of employers said they had stopped hiring pharmacy employees, which was a significant increase from the prior year.

The survey of 1,800 pharmacy administrators by The Chronicle of Philanthropy and the University of Pennsylvania showed that 76 percent of them were reluctant to hire pharmacy employees over the past two years.

“It’s going to take time to get these things in place,” McLean said.

“You can’t just put a bunch of people in a corner and hope they’ll stay.”

But the survey found that pharmacy administrators are a particularly valuable part of the job marketplace.

About 35 percent of respondents said they use their position to help other people, compared with a national average of 14 percent.

Nearly half of respondents were also involved in customer care, with more than a third saying they helped customers pay bills or arrange appointments.

“The job of pharmacy administrator is really one that needs to be shared,” Mclean said.

The median salary for a pharmacy administrator was $85,000 in 2019, up from $83,000 a year earlier.

And in some industries, the salary is higher, with the average pharmacy administrator earning about $125,000.

However, McLean noted that pharmacy workers are not the only ones working in the pharmacy industry.

He cited pharmacy technicians, sales representatives and nurses.

The National Association for Business Economics found that more jobs in the pharma industry would be created if the federal government and Congress passed legislation that would boost the minimum wage and give drugstores a greater say in setting pay.

“When we talk about increasing the minimum, the pharmacy workforce should be part of that equation,” said Gary M. Anderson, the association’s president.

“In a lot of the industries, they say, ‘Why are you paying a higher minimum wage?’

But it’s not true,” Anderson said.

In the study, only about a quarter of employers that responded said they will hire pharmacians in 2018, and nearly a third said they wouldn’t hire them in 2019.

And only about one in five employers said that they were willing to pay pharmacists a higher wage if it means they can hire more people.

“If you’re looking to hire a pharmacy manager, you need to understand the job,” McNeill said.

Pharmacy administrators make more than pharmacy technicians because they can work more hours and get paid more.

They also get benefits like vacation time, sick leave and a 401(k) plan, which is often part of a pharma job.

“What people don’t realize is that it’s a great job, and the job is really the best of all worlds,” Anderson added.

“But if you don’t like the job, you can’t work there.”

The National Center for Health Statistics reported in 2016 that pharmacy jobs are now among the fastest-growing occupations in the United States.
